The heavy rain poured relentlessly, drowning out the sounds of the city. The street was almost empty, the lights reflecting off the wet asphalt. A soaked, breathless girl was running, constantly looking back.
Suddenly, she noticed a car parked by the roadside. Without hesitation, she ran toward it, opened the door, and quickly got inside.
“Please… help me…” she said, out of breath.
The man behind the wheel looked at her in shock.
“Who are you… and why did you get into my car?” he asked, surprised.
The girl replied in a trembling voice:
“I ran away… Two men are chasing me… please, help me…”
At that moment, two dark shadows suddenly appeared on the car window. Someone knocked hard on the glass.
The man instinctively tightened his grip on the steering wheel. Through the rain, a rough voice was heard:
“Open the door… we know she’s inside.”
The girl pressed herself into the seat, her eyes filled with fear.
“Please… don’t open it…”
The man looked at her silently for a moment, then slowly turned toward the window. The shadows moved closer, and one of their hands slid across the glass.
The man’s face suddenly changed.
He rolled the window down halfway.
The girl gasped in terror.
One of the men outside leaned closer and said angrily:
“Sir, step away from her. She stole something very important.”
The girl shook her head wildly.
“No! Don’t listen to them!”
The driver looked back at her calmly.
“What did you steal?”
Tears mixed with the rain on her face.
“My baby…” she whispered.
The two men outside froze.
The man nearest the window shouted:
“She escaped from the private clinic! She gave birth this morning and ran away with the child!”
The girl broke down crying.
“They told me my baby died… but I heard him crying in another room. They were going to sell him.”
Silence filled the car.
The driver slowly reached into his coat.
The girl trembled, thinking he would hand her over.
Instead, he pulled out a police badge.
Then he looked at the two men outside and said coldly:
“You picked the wrong car.”
