They say that love heals and this has never been truer than in the case of Gloria.
When her foster mom, Emily, first saw her in a North Carolina shelter, she was both dazzled and heartbroken. Gloria’s eyes pierced through her soul, even though her physical condition was far from perfect.
Little did this little, mangy dog, who looked like a worm know that Emily, alongside her friend, Roni, would change her life forever!
Gloria Was Not A Puppy At All
Emily and Roni, long-time fosters who work closely with Hope Animal Rescue in North Carolina, didn’t think twice about bringing Glo home.
This beautiful pup captivated their heart right off the bat and they wanted to help her experience a full glow-up after being diagnosed with a severe case of mange.
Glo’s skin was crusty, she was almost bald, and she had a long way to go. The saddest thing was that she was in a great deal of pain for who knows how long. As a stray, she had been roaming the streets in that condition, far from anyone who could help her.
Yet, from the moment she arrived at the shelter, Glo never let her past affect her genuine sweetness and kind demeanor.
She looked like a several-week-old puppy, although Glo’s age was quite a mystery to everyone.
“I was given the impression that this was a nine to ten-week-old puppy. She was just so sweet, but I could tell she was in a lot of pain,” Emily told The Dodo.
Then, after being taken to a vet for the first time, Emily and Roni received a shocking update! Glo wasn’t a puppy at all – she was a fully grown adult dog. Her innocent-looking face and size made her resemble a teeny-tiny pup when she was actually a big girl.
Wow, who would have guessed?!
Over the next six weeks, Emily and Roni did everything to make Glo transform into her old self. She had several baths a week, regular care, and began to learn how to be a pup in a brand-new environment.
By week six, she dazzled everyone again – this time with her amazing glow-up!
Emily and Roni couldn’t be prouder. She actually looked like a new dog with her new fur fully grown and her eyes even more strikingly beautiful.
With her mange finally healed, it is safe to say that Glo looked like a doggo princess!
She couldn’t hide her excitement and the fact that she was no longer in pain. Now, she is this wiggly, happy-go-lucky girl who enjoys every second in her foster home.
“It’s crazy to think that less than two months ago Glo was a stray living on her own, and now she’s ‘glown’ into a princess that’s ready to rule over her very own kingdom,” Hope Animal Rescue wrote on Instagram.
And, boi did she look cute!
It definitely doesn’t get any better than that!
The Most Exciting Update
Upon revealing Gloria’s incredible glow-up to the world, the North Carolina rescue’s email was flooded with applications.
Eventually, this little girl received one that ultimately changed her life. Her new mom and dad appeared on the shelter’s doorstep, happy to meet their new furry companion, and Glo immediately melted in their arms.
“It’s official – our Glo-worm has found her forever home,” Roni stated on Instagram.
Gloria, who now goes by the name, Pygmy, is off chasing her new adventures in a loving home surrounded by the best family ever.
And, the best part is that she even got her very own Instagram account where her admirers can continue following her daily updates.
Happy life, Pygmy! I can’t wait to see how your future unfolds!
