“The American public is tired of it. Take a look at the election,” Trump asserted. “We won this election in a landslide because people are frustrated with one-sided, horrible views in terms of crime.”
He continued by criticizing the media for overlooking the issues of violent crime, mentioning how lenient the justice system appeared towards murderers compared to political opponents.
On that same day, President Trump issued pardons for more than 1,500 individuals related to the January 6 incident. These were primarily for misdemeanors such as trespassing.
Trump’s pardon decisions echo his campaign discussions and were seen as a response to the last-minute pardons issued by former President Joe Biden to members of the January 6 Committee.
Meanwhile, Trump’s administration is coming together with strong confirmations, as evidenced by Marco Rubio’s appointment as secretary of state, approved by the Senate in a unanimous 99-0 vote.
Rubio is expected to play a significant role in tackling key issues such as the conflict in Ukraine, managing China’s influence, and addressing the situation in Gaza.
The streamlined confirmation process for Rubio highlighted a rare moment of bipartisanship in the Senate.

With Rubio’s transition, Florida’s leadership shuffled as Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Ashley Moody, previously the state’s attorney general, to the Senate seat.
Upon taking office, President Trump has begun enacting a robust set of over 200 executive actions. His policies are expected to focus on pressing issues such as energy, border security, and the economic welfare of American families.

One of his immediate actions included announcing a national border emergency, urging collaboration between the U.S. military and the Department of Homeland Security to reinforce southern border security.
Additionally, Trump initiated the establishment of homeland security task forces. These teams, incorporating various federal agencies, are tasked with eradicating criminal cartels operating on American soil.
In a bid to strengthen this initiative, he ordered the classification of these cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, further emphasizing his focus on national security.
